5 Benefits of a Mobile Hotspot Router

5 Benefits of a Mobile Hotspot Router

We need the internet wherever we go. Our devices virtually stop working without internet
access. A mobile hotspot router is an easy-to-access wireless device to connect to the
internet anywhere, whether at home, commuting, or outdoors. A mobile router may be a
USB, dongle, or compact device. You can buy a monthly data pack for such routers or
even go for an unlimited continuous data plan, whatever suits you well.
What is a Mobile Hotspot Router?

A wireless mobile hotspot router is a device that lets you connect to the internet
anywhere without the hassle of cables. You can connect it to your phone, computer, and
even gadgets at your home and office for seamless and high-speed internet connectivity.
They are stationary or portable and come with many features that can have many
applications beyond a hotspot itself. It is an on-the-go personal internet accessing device
that can easily fit in your pocket.
There are many advantages of using a mobile hotspot router today-

1.Portability:

This is the principle behind the invention of a mobile hotspot router.
These come in many compact designs, which you can easily carry in your bag or
your pockets. After fully charging, they give you enough battery life that you can
easily commute and still stay connected to the internet all the time.

2.Faster Internet Speed:

A mobile hotspot router is connected to high-speed
internet, which is not available on the public internet since many people use it
simultaneously. You also get to decide how much speed you want depending on
your utilization and buy a pack accordingly, without wasting your money.

3.Connectivity:

Hotspot routers can be connected across different devices with
ease. They are engineered to support many devices at the same time; hence you
can use them at home to connect to your domestic gadgets as well.

4.No Throttling and Buffering:

Since you will have a private internet connection,
most internet providers don’t throttle your internet speed. Throttling occurs when
the internet service providers reduce your internet speed intentionally due to high
traffic. A personal internet connection also ensures a fast internet speed, reducing
the cases of buffering while streaming videos. Buffering occurs when the internet
speed is to slow for your videos to stream seamlessly. Additionally, the lack of
throttling means no low-speed internet, improving the efficiency of your domestic
internet-based gadgets because they don’t face the issue of disconnection all the
time.

5.Saves Money:

You can choose the kind of data plan you want to purchase when
you have a mobile hotspot router. Mobile hotspot routers give you the flexibility to
go for high-speed or standard speed internet. You can also choose the duration of
the plans between monthly, annually, and continuous, ultimately saving your
money.

Understanding How a Mobile Network Works

Understanding How a Mobile Network Works

Nowadays mobiles are the most common thing you can find someone holding in their
hands. Further, with the enhanced technologies and digitization of various platforms, it is
no doubt that mobile usage is increasing drastically. Today you could be traveling, going
through a tunnel, or on top of the mountains, and you will get a good enough cellular
network to be able to communicate with your loved ones. It is fascinating to know how
technological developments are helping mobile networks get stronger and widely
available.

Principle of a Mobile Network-

The mobile network works on the general principle like that of every wireless network.
The principle is to transmit and receive network signals in the form of radio frequencies
from one cell (hexagonal geographical areas with one transceiver in the center) to another
until the two mobile phones are connected and a connection is established.

Working of a Mobile Network-

The mobile network has multiple short overlapping areas, called cells, with individual
base stations at their centers. These cells are overlapping in nature so that there is no gap
between two base stations if you are traveling. These base stations are the core of a
particular piece of network. When a mobile phone transmits radio frequency signals, they
are captured by these base stations and re-transmitted on another radio frequency to the
aimed mobile phone.
These signals are relayed to sequenced base stations as the caller moves across the cells.
This relaying is seamless and is not noticed by the user, and hence the call is continuous.
The transmission and receiving strengths of mobile phones are very low, about 0.6 watts
and 3 watts. This low radio frequency strength makes it possible for the calls to remain in
their specific cells without interfering with each other. It is also essential to understand
that the power of an individual base station does not affect the strength of the network for
a mobile phone. The number of cells and base stations should be increased in a given
region to improve a particular mobile network’s coverage, stability, and strength.

The Difference in the Rural and Urban Cells-

Cells are crucial components of mobile networks (hence the term interchanged with
cellular networks). These cells are of different sizes and strengths depending on various
factors like- the type of base station incorporated, terrain (mountains, plains, etc.) and
location (rural or urban) of installation, and the population density.
The transmission capacity of the base stations present at the core of the cells is limited.
To handle numerous simultaneous calls in high-density regions like urban cities,
thousands of small-sized cells are present within a few meters. In contrast, in the rural
areas where the population density and communications are significantly low, these cells
are larger in size, scattered up to ten kilometers apart.

An Introduction To Cellular Technologys

An Introduction To Cellular Technologys

Cellular technology has been advancing ever since its invention. Today, most devices run on wireless modes. This communication medium gives the user the freedom to move around and still stay connected with their loved ones and the world. At the very core, cellular technology uses electromagnetic waves, like radio waves. The transmission is conveyed from one “cell” to another, giving it the name “cellular technology.” The most used, everyday gadget working on this technology is mobile phones, also called cell phones, for the same reason. The absence of wires also provides a kind of omnipresence to networks, availing communication services to people practically throughout the world.

What is Cellular Technology?

Cellular technology is the most widely used invention today. It allows people free access worldwide. There are no wires and cables involved, and every communication and message is transferred from electromagnetic wave channels.

How Does Cellular Technology Work?

Cellular technology works on a grid dividing the cities and regions into “cells.” These cells transmit and receive radio waves at different frequencies to establish a successful communication channel. The cells are overlapping hypothetical hexagonal geographical areas with single transceivers at the center. The transceivers or base stations capture radio signals transmitted by mobile phones while communicating. The radio signals are then re-transmitted to the subsequent cells at other frequencies until a connection with the targetted mobile phone is established.

Types of Cellular Network-

GSM: It is an acronym for Global System for Mobile Communications. GSM authenticates SIM cards, meaning users can simply switch SIM cards to get a new network. It is based on time division meaning calls take turns using radio frequencies. There have been many generation rollouts of GSM technology initiating with 1G. In most parts of the world, 4G technology is currently predominant.

CDMA: It stands for code-division multiple access. The working principle of CDMA is encoding connections with various keys and decoding them on the receiving end to establish contact without interferences. CDMA authenticates the mobile set; hence the phone needs to be switched to get on another network. It has a great range in rural areas with primarily used in the United States. The leading CDMA carriers in the US are Verizon and Sprint. Traditionally, CDMA did not support calling and data usage simultaneously, but the technology has evolved since its origin.

LTE: It is also called 4G LTE (Long-Term Evolution). It is an upgraded version of GSM and CDMA. GSM provides increased bandwidth for voice and data communications.

VoLTE: It works on the LTE data connection and is the latest voice technology worldwide. It enables video calls with high voice quality.

Advantages of Cellular Technology-

No cables,
Offers the convenience of mobility,
Increased productivity,
Reaches where cables cannot

Disadvantages of Cellular Technology-

Short ranged,
Potential interferences,
Expensive,
Cell reception could vary

3G vs. LTE

3G vs. LTE

Technologies change very rapidly. With the rise of internet-based gadgets, data technology has seen exponential growth. With the gradual transition from the horrible speed of 1G to the most convenient LTE, most of us have seen our overall internet browsing enhance. Today most mobile phones require LTE as their network. However, we should not forget that 3G provided the foundation for every user to experience faster internet speeds. There are pros and cons of every technology, and understanding the differences will help us realize further required improvements.

Learn some critical differences between the two powerful mobile data technologies here-

Definition- 3G is the third generation of mobile data networks. It took some time for 3G to establish itself in the digital world, but it has been around for a long time today. It has transformed the experience of internet browsing on smartphones. 3G first suggested that apart from voice calls, you can use mobile phones for downloading and uploading large amounts of data. 3G has become a channel for its users to accept higher technologies more quickly.

LTE or long-term evolution is the latest technology. With just one step below 4G technology, it allows faster internet speeds and better voice connectivity. LTE has become mandatory in most latest phones but is yet to reach its pinnacle speed.

Data Speed- When 3G was launched, people were familiar with using the internet on their mobile phones. They used phones for the most basic functions like voice calls, text messages (SMS), and media sharing through MMS. 3G took the world by a whirlwind with the introduction of HTML page accessibility and video and music loading. However, if you are used to LTE now, you will notice a vast difference in the internet speeds since 3G only runs at 7.2 Mbps. On the other hand, LTE runs at a whopping rate of 100 Mbps and has the theoretical potential to reach 1 Gbps.

Call Quality- LTE is an intelligent network. It can reroute calls to another path if connectivity is broken for any reason without dropping the call. It also prioritizes callers and numbers, with emergency numbers at the highest priority. In comparison, 3G was only meant to enhance internet speed.

Stability- By default, LTE is supposed to be almost a hundred times faster than 3G. But, 3G has well-established servers that give it the preferred connection strength and network quality. In contrast, LTE does not have good servers and can be pretty unstable if you are on the move. Especially in city areas or during heavy crowding of networks, 3G can easily surpass LTE with higher speeds.

Cost- As mentioned before, every technology has some downside. Depending on your location, the charges for internet connectivity can differ. However, LTE is much costlier than 3G and strikes you with large bill amounts. With the unstable connectivity, LTE might not be worth it for you.

How to Fix "No Service and Signal" on Android

How to Fix "No Service and Signal" on Android

Poor network signals in rural areas or highways are not uncommon. However, many a time, android smartphone users see the error of no service or no signal in their homes or city areas as well. These signal losses can restrict the most basic features of a cellular device. Many factors can lead your smartphone to lose its network strength. However, as standard as the network loss issue is, it also has efficient and easy solutions you can use to get your phone up and running quickly.

Let us look at some of the methods you can try to receive service and signal on your android smartphone-

Method #1- Restart the Phone: The most effective and the easiest way to solve most bugs and network issues on any android smartphone is to restart it. Restarting clears cache, random access memory (RAM) and resets any processes that prevent your phone from functioning efficiently. Restarting your device a couple of times every week is a good habit of keeping it in the optimal performing condition. Simply hold the screen lock button for a few seconds, and the device will manually shut down. You can turn it on again by holding the screen lock button for a few seconds.

Method #2- Use the Airplane Mode: Another effective way to regain your network signals is by manually connecting to the service provider. Simply drag downwards on your screen to reach the toolbar and click on the airplane icon to turn on the airplane mode. Wait for thirty seconds and tap on the airplane icon again to turn off the airplane mode. Alternatively, you can also turn it on and off in your mobile network settings.

Method #3- Manual Selection of Network Operators: Another way to manually reconnect with your service provider is in the mobile network settings. Choose another network provider from the list provided.

Method #4- Ping Test Method: Sometimes, the device does not get service when connected to another radio signal. To solve this issue, open up your phone’s dialer. Dial *#*#4636#*#* to get the service mode menu. Select device information and choose “Run Ping Test” here. After the completion of the test, check if the radio signal at the bottom of the menu is enabled. Restart your device again, and you should have your service back.

Method #5- SIM Card Issues: If none of the above methods help, your SIM card might be the issue. Turn off your device and take out the SIM card slot to check if it is appropriately set. Clean the space and place the SIM card again and restart your device.

Method #6- Reset Your Phone: If your device is still showing no service and signal error, you might need to restore the factory settings as your last option. Go to your phone’s settings and select “Reset” in the “About Phone” option.

CDMA vs. GSM: What's the Difference?

CDMA vs. GSM: What's the Difference?

For decades, CDMA and GSM have been the most prominent mobile communication technologies and are still evolving. Even after the emergence of faster and more efficient communication systems, they’re still prevalent in the USA. Although both are telecommunication technologies converting mobile phone data into radio frequency, they aren’t compatible with each other. Various features differentiate GSM from CDMA, and understanding their characteristics will help you decide which one is best for you.

Here are some differences you need to know about CDMA and GSM-

What is CDMA?

CDMA or Code Division Multiple Access is a radio telecommunication standard introduced as the standard of wireless communication in 2G and 3G generation. It does not require SIM cards. Instead, it works on ESN (Electronic Serial Number) and authenticates a phone directly. If the user wishes to change their number or network type, proper procedures need to be followed. It is used in UHF (Ultra High-Frequency cellular systems).

Networks Using CDMA-

The standard networks using CDMA in the US are Verizon, Sprint, US Cellular, and their smaller subsidiaries such as Tracfone and Boost Mobile.

What is GSM?

GSM or Global System for Mobile Connection is also called the second-generation standard for mobile networks. Unlike CDMA, GSM authenticates SIM cards. If a user wishes to change their mobile network, they only need to switch their SIM cards and not the phone. It was first introduced as 1G technology and has evolved to 4G, currently working in most countries worldwide.

GSM introduced the first SMS (Short Message System) service and also paved the way for various wireless services like GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) and UMRS (Universal Mobile Radio System).

Networks Using GSM-

Any networks not using CDMA use GSM, AT&T, T-Mobile, and many prepaid cellular providers.

Differences Between GSM and CDMA-

Flexibility: Since GSM devices use SIM cards that can be replaced whenever required, it is a more flexible option. On the other hand, CDMA works on ESN and provides less flexibility to the users.
Frequency: GSM runs on three different radio frequencies of 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 1900 MHz, with 900 MHz being the most common. CDMA operates on the frequency range of 850 MHz to 1900 MHz.
Popularity: GSM phones have a worldwide reach with almost all the countries using the technology. In contrast, CDMA is only prevalent in the US, Canada, and Japan.
Security: CDMA is based on the spread spectrum technology and optimally uses all available bandwidth to readily encrypt the transmitted data. Moreover, signal detection is more difficult in CDMA than GSM, which operates on a wedge spectrum.
Data Transfer Rate: CDMA uses EVDO data transfer technology that provides a high data transfer speed of upto 2 Mbps. In comparison, GSM uses EDGE (Enhanced Data Rates for GSM Evolution) with a maximum downloading speed of 384 Kbps.

5 Things to Consider When Choosing a Mobile Service Provider

5 Things to Consider When Choosing a Mobile Service Provider

Homes and businesses increasingly depend on internet services to complete their daily activities. Residences need it for various systems and entertainment purposes, while companies require it for communications and transactions. There are many other reasons why the internet has become the central power running the world. And with increasing demands, many mobile service providers have also emerged. It can get challenging to choose an internet provider, especially with all of them offering attractive offers.

Here are five things you should consider when choosing a mobile service provider.

#1- Type of Technology: Network technology can impact your efficiency manifolds. You must ensure your internet provider delivers you the latest, regularly updated, and scalable connections. You should be able to upgrade your network technology according to the market requirements. Check that such updates are hassle-free and do not affect your work.

#2- Internet Speed: Internet speed is critical for most when choosing their mobile service providers. Make sure that the connection has a large bandwidth, isn’t disrupted or hindered by heavy traffic, and the signal is reliable. Ask the neighbors about their connection speeds to expect a realistic idea of internet speed. You can get a high-speed fiber connection for fast internet over a slow DSL connection.

#3- Reliability: The reliability and security of the network is of utmost importance. Check if the provider is connecting you to a converged network with voice, video, and data connection over a single network. Although it isn’t a bad choice at all, there are a few security concerns about network convergence. Furthermore, since your business almost entirely depends on the internet, your mobile service provider should be reliable enough to avoid any losses. There should be minimum cases of glitching, and if there arise any, the provider should be able to solve it quickly.

#4- Service Costs and Customizations: The cost can depend on many factors like the technology being used, internet speed, amount of data, type of connection, and your locality. However, with the competitive markets, your potential mobile service provider should ideally give you better offers and provide discounted rates with reliable and fast connections. An ideal mobile network provider will also let you customize your plans according to your residential or business requirements. You should not be burdened with the payments of services you might never use.

#5- Availability: While internet connections are readily available in urban areas, the same cannot be said about rural regions. A good high-speed fiber connection will not do you any good if the internet provider does not deliver services in your area. Make sure they operate in your area to ensure reliable and fast internet services round the clock.

technology that provides better convenience and speeds. The launch of 1G (the first-
generation technology) in the 1980s enabled mobile phone calls, 2G in the next decade
presented texting and digital voice, 3G in the 2000s gave us mobile internet, music
streaming, and picture messaging, then 4G in the 2010s enhanced the online multimedia
streaming experience to another level with HD videos and relieving users of worrying
about their data consumption. However, with 5G, online streaming has reached a
completely another level.
Here is everything you need to know about 5G-

What is 5G?
The fifth generation of wireless mobile technology that succeeded 4G LTE is called 5G.
This technology has truly changed how internet user experiences their daily life by
virtually connecting anybody or anything to everything, including machines, objects, and

Multiplexing), which modulates digital signals across multiple channels to reduce
interferences, providing a seamless experience to the user. Additionally, 5G also utilizes
the 5G NR air interface. The 5G NR air interface makes OFDM principles more capable
of delivering higher flexibility to the users. This entire combination adds more to the
advantageous applications of 5G in many other fields apart from networking for
communicating.
5G also operates on wider bandwidths such as sub-6 GHz and mmWave (24 GHz and
up). The expanded usage of spectrum resources enables 5G with a high capacity, multi-
Gbps throughout, and low latency.

What are the Primary Applications of 5G?
The most defining capability of 5G is that it is designed for forward compatibility, which
means, you will be able to use 5G in services that are unknown today but may be of great
significance in the future. 5G is used in multiple areas today, but there are some primary
applications you should know about-

Android Mobile Data Not Working? Here Are Some Solutions

Android Mobile Data Not Working? Here Are Some Solutions

The Internet has become the most essential tool today used by almost everyone
worldwide. And just like we cannot leave the house without our phones, we just can’t
have our phones without working mobile data in them. What is a smartphone without the
internet, anyway? Not just our phones, but many people use their GSM data-only plans
and AT&T wireless home network to connect with various smart gadgets in their homes.
But what if the mobile data stops working and you get stuck?
Let us see some solutions you can use to resolve the malfunctioning of your android
mobile data.

Issue #1- Your Airplane Mode is On
Solution: The most common reason for mobile data not working is that the airplane
mode on your mobile is turned on. Either you turned it on yourself or it accidentally
happened, but an airplane mode will cut off every wireless antenna including mobile
data, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. You will see a small airplane on the status bar if it is on. You
can turn it off using the toggle in your notifications bar or from the network settings
menu.
Issue #2- It is a Phone Issue
Solution: If your phone is the reason for your mobile data not working, there may be a
plethora of reasons to look at. However, sometimes the answer is a very quick fix —
restart! While it may sound like a joke, some minor phone-related issues can be solved by
simply restarting the phone. If it still does not help, you should get it checked by a
professional.

Issue #3- Your SIM Card Might be disoriented
Solution: Sometimes the SIM card may move from its place and the alignment of its
lines can change. Try connecting back to your GSM data-only plan by removing and
reinserting the SIM card. If this does not work, your SIM card may be broken or out of
service and you will have to contact your GSM network providers in the USA to get your
services back. You will get a new SIM card if the problem persists so that you can keep
your old number.

Issue #4- Reception Troubles
Solution: If you are out in an area where the network is not receivable by the phone, your
mobile data may not work. It may also be possible that the reception of your mobile
network provider is down. To solve this issue, you will have to wait until you reach an
area with a proper network or until the provider resets the network.
